Choreographer

“Why move? Why jump ? Why dance ? How to escape the homogeneity of life to become the individual (yourself)? My choreography is in finding the answer to these questions. Life is a marvelous kaleidoscope of countless simple actions that are as unique as each and every one of us. Sometimes, though, we forget them. Each expression of life is in itself a dance, even the most imperceptible shiver can be “beautiful”. I want to revel the wonder hidden beneath routine” Daniel Ezralow – Fore word to the show “Why be extraordinary when you can be yourself”
Daniel Ezralow was born in Los Angeles. He began studying dance at the UC Berkley in California. Between 1976 and 1986, he worked with 5x2 Plus, Lar Lubovitch, Paul Taylor, and Pilobolus.

An exceptional performer and soloist dancer, Ezralow also distinguished himself as a choreographer for his style that is based on always new and surprising creations. He is also one of the founders of MOMIX and ISO (I'm So Optimistic), a dance company that combines remarkable artistic talent and extraordinary technical and acrobatic virtuosity.

Ezralow toured the world as the co-director, choreographer, and soloist dancer of ISO. Besides working with ISO, he also created many choreographies for international festivals and famous dance companies.
The year 1994 marked the debut of the successful multimedia show, “Salgari”, for which he was the head choreographer, soloist, and director. For the opening of the International Dance Festival of Milan (1995/1996), he directed and choreographed "Mandala", a multimedia show inspired by Tantric Buddhism.

For theater he choreographed Julie Taymor’s Broadway show “The Green Bird”, and he did the choreography (assisting Vittorio Gassman on stage) for an adaptation of Melville’s “Moby Dick” at the Theatre Champs Elysees in Paris. His most recent accomplishments include the choreography and co-direction of Lucio Dalla’s musical “Tosca”; and the choreography and co-direction of “Aeros”. He also helped create the choreography for the hit musical “LOVE”, based on music by the Beatles and starring the Cirque du Soleil. At the American Choreographer Innovator's Awards, Ezralow won the “Best Choreographer in a TV Show Special” category for the TV show special “Aeros Bravo”. He also won an Emmy Award for the PBS special "Episodes", and received an Emmy nomination for the performance at the 1998 Academy Awards. He received the Premio Positano and the Nijinsky Awards for that same performance. He won the Ischia Gassman Award in July 2006.

In the pop music world, he has created choreographies for music videos and tours, and has worked with Sting, U2, David Bowie, Pat Metheny, Andrea Bocelli, Ricky Martin, Josh Groban, and Faith Hill. Ezralow has worked on several films such as "La visione del sabba" by Marco Bellocchio, "L’ultimo concerto" by Francesco Laudadio, "Un complicato intrigo di donne, vicoli e deliti" by Lina Wertmuller, "Ulisse e la balena bianca" by Vittorio Gassman, "Casa Ricordi" by Mauro Bolognini, "How the Grinch stole Christmas" by Ron Howard, “Earth Girls are easy” by Julian Temple, “Amercian Gun” by Alan Jacobs, "StereoFututre" by Nakano Hiroyuki, and his latest project, "Across the Universe," Julie Taymor film-musical based on songs from the Beatles. Ezralow has also worked in the fashion industry with designers such as Issey Miyake, Koji Tatsuno, Roberto Cavalli, and Hugo Boss. He has also appeared as the celebrity testimonial in many international advertising campaigns. A new documentary about Daniel’s creative process, his life, and his work is in the works and titled: "The journey of a dancer, Daniel Ezralow." Princess Ragamuffin will be Daniel’s first attempt at feature film directing.
